About the Plays and Playwrights

    1992 by David White
Todd’s glory days playing baseball are well behind him.  He is to begin his prison sentence today, and is saying goodbye to his wife.  Poor Ida.  She’s gonna miss him.  How is she going to cope? David White's play, An Imperfect Sonnet, was produced in 2008 by The Cardboard Box Collaborative. His play, Simulations, was part of Plays and Players' First Friday New Reading Series. He is currently working on his MFA in playwriting at Temple University.

    The Craving by Joy Cutler
Iris is pregnant and her husband, Denny is excessively attentive to her needs and bizarre cravings. So why is she so annoyed with him? He’s not the same man she used to know and love. Something happened to Denny during a baseball game and he changed beyond recognition. What should have been a easy catch became a life-altering event and Iris is now forced to take drastic measures to get her real husband back. Joy Cutler was a member of the performance ensemble, Elbow Akimbo in San Francisco and a co-founder of the theater company, Out to Lunch in Berlin, Germany. Her plays, radio plays and solo shows have been performed in San Francisco, New York, Berlin, and Amsterdam.

    Curveball by Daniel Student

Innovatively using puppets and new media, Curveball mixes old and new to tell a timeless story of America's pastime. Daniel Student's play Alabama Alabama was selected to the 2009 Spark Showcase. He is a freelance director and serves on the Executive Committee at Plays & Players for who he has directed Take Me Out, Oleanna, and the World Premiere of Early in the Mourning by P. Seth Bauer over the past two seasons.
Plays were selected by a judge panel that included Andy Bloch, a Los Angeles based playwright, Cara Blouin, a Philadelphia based freelance director and P&P Education Co-Chair, and Martha Wade Steketee, PDC Dramaturg.
